Our ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, April 9, was a huge success.  The predicted rain held off until the ceremony was over and over 150 people joined in the celebration.  Board president Ted Cantrell welcomed the crowd, Executive Director, Lynne Sipiora noted that "collaboration and momentum" built the complex and donor Marc Sparks thanked the Darling Brothers who built the apartment building at no profit.
Following a barbeque lunch, guests were invited to tour apartment 105 which was completely furnished from items found at the Friends of the Inn Thrift Center.  This apartment will be available to tour until the end of the summer.

Community News

On June 18, 2008, The Samaritan Inn welcomed 58 ‘tweeners’ from Custer Road United Methodist Church Vacation Bible School.  The ‘tweeners’ are kids who will be entering the 6th grade in the fall.  They were divided into 3 groups and taken on a tour of The Inn where they learned more about homelessness and those who experience it.

“With so many kids we weren't sure if it would work or not, but I have to say that the day was perfect.  Exactly as I had hoped it would be for the kids.” stated Tammy Hogan, Group Leader.  “I trust that they (the kids) have a better understanding of the services that the Inn provides and that the next time someone mentions collecting milk or paper products or cleaning supplies for the Inn it will have more meaning for them.”

The Samaritan Inn depends on the community for its support and sharing what we do here with those who will someday represent ‘the community’ is very important to us and those we serve.

We are always available to provide tours and would be very happy to visit your group, class, organization or team and share information about the Inn, our program and the services we provide to those who are experiencing homelessness.  Please contact Lynne Sipiora, Executive Director, at (972) 542-5302 to schedule a speaking engagement.  Thank you for your support.
